To limit the harmful effects of tobacco, Vietnam made commitments through the ratification of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control of the World Health Organization in 2004 and enacted Law on Anti-Tobacco Control 2012. 2013, the Prime Minister approved the "National Strategy on the prevention of the harmful effects of tobacco by 2020". In which specifies the target by 2020 is to reduce the rate of youth smoking from 26% to 18% of male smokers fell from 47.4% to 39%, female smokers down 1.4% .
